[edit]some of this writing is a bit sloppy, especially the english in some parts...
- Some users (don't worry, not me) have been doing good (and difficult) job on this article, and I think it's now ready to get rid of the clean up tag. -Mariano 08:47, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
- I think this article has too many qualificative adjectives ; - he did an amazing concert / an excellent album ; this expresses points of view, and is not encyclopedic. I am not native in English so I wouldn't dare to rewrite it, but I don't think the clean up tag should be taken off yet. Sdistefano (talk) 09:00, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
Casandra Lange
[edit]Isnt it true that he changed his name to "Casandra Lange" in honor of his grandmother or something like that? --San Marcos 10:32, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
Drunkard
[edit]We all know that Galtieri was a drunkard, but it's a biased comment. I also think that Bush is, but I won't gonna put it in his Wikipedia entry. I revised that comment from the entry.
- Stahn.
General Galtieri's "alcoholism problem" is no more than a Malvinas/Falklands war era of character assassination on thepart of the British who wanted to make the enemy look as incompetent as possible in the eyes of the world. This is an old school Soviet propaganda trick designed to discredit a public figure. I've read several articles from unbiased reporters and military people who were not pro-Galtieri, and even though he probably drank as much as anyone else, there has never been a proven report that Galtieri was a drunkard. Mind you, the man is dead and cannot defend himself and I am not either for or against Galtieri. History will be revised in probably 20+ more years. Even when he was alive, there was little he could do when the Argentine press perpetuated this british myth and when all the blame for the war fell on him - and not the navy, that actually started the invasion without approval. - Daniel
Cassandra Lange
[edit]See, Cassandra Lange was the grandmother of Charly from part of his father. When García have a legal fight with his mother, he changed his legal name from Carlos Alberto García Moreno to Carlos Alberto García Lange, been Moreno the Surname of his mother.--200.89.165.243 19:28, 5 July 2006 (UTC) From Argentine
What about his violent outburts at concerts?
[edit]For some time now this guy has been showing up at concerts hours late, performing terribly, skipping soundchecks and walking out of his own shows, beating up reporters and stagecrew, and last Sunday (11/26)he got knocked out onstage by a sound technician who wasn;t going to take a beating by Garcia. Clearly this irrational behavior and apparent drug and/or alcohol abuse SHOULD be addressed or noted in the Charly Garcia Wikipedia entry! The article as it appears now sounds too biased towards him and ignores his sadly true, ridiculous behavior. I'd like to see a more balanced entry and not one that oogles over his past achivements. ```` Daniel
- I agree, a new heading with the title of "Criticism of Charly García" should be enough. I'm not qualified to speak about that stuff, though. -- Stahn 15:26, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
- The article is a little better, but glazes over his later history (1994 - present) especially when it is vague about the quality of his works as it is clear to anyone that buys his CDs (as I did) that ever since "La Hija De La Lagrima" his compositions, his arrangements, his voice, and his shows have been less than acceptable, and that his "Say No More" era has succeeded in alienating his long time fans, attracted a new and unstable younger crowd, and that his record sales have plummeted consistently, and concert attendances have SEVERELY declined(save for those "free concerts or multi group rock festivals - the latter which crowds attend not to see him especially, but to see a package of artists of which he is only part). The fact that you say you are not qualified to speak about that stuff (the negative), by default does not qualify you to speak about any positive stuff either since for the past 10 years (at least!) there has been even less positive stuff to talk about than negative. Folks, let's not turn Wikipedia into another Garcia unconditional fan club site. And wil someone PLEASE CLEAN UP the English entry? The grammar is awful! Whoever transated it, please note that in English we do not tend to use such flowery sentence structures to say something simple. I'd say that if this article gets properly cleansed, it would qualify for the Nestor Kirchner haircut special - a 65% to 75% reduction in the amount of words. ---- Daniel
7/30/07 - FINALLY, a section called "Criticism of Charly Garcia", though not as thorough as I'd like it to be - it does not mention how back in November 2006 in Cordoba, he showed up hours late to his own show, arriving from Buenos Aires, not having done a soundcheck, cursed Andres Calamaro, smashed guitars, forgot his own lyrics, threw down a stack of amplifiers, and when a local roadie tried to pick up the equipment, junkie Garcia tried to hit the roadie, missed, and the roadie punched him in the face, knocking him unconscious, all the while all this in front of the TV cameras which played back the incident over and over on national newscasts. The article still tends to gloss over a lot of his hypocritical actions and words, as if by not mentioning them, they would just go away, however all the above facts are true and easily verifyable, but at least it has improved a lot and for that I thank you.
Article rank
[edit]Any biographical article with only two references, no matter how much text, does not qualify for a ranking at a "C" level, and so I have changed it to "Start" status. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 13:09, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
